YOUNG CATHOLIC WORKERS TALENT SHOW 2022

01

Our first ever YCW Talent Show 2022 took place last weekend on Saturday 3rd September at St Edward's Parish Hall. It was a charity event hosted to raise money for the homeless.

02

It was led and organised by Jopaul, Ryan, Geraldine, Grace, Kathie, Dania, Annette, Naomi and Samantha, the YCW Talent Show Team, under the supervision and support of Laurina, the Oldham YCW Impact Director. There were 18 performances of all ages involving many vibrant dances and expressive songs to a dramatic monologue. Five guest judges were invited to judge each performance. In the end, 3 winners were chosen from all the fantastic performances to be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd cash prizes. The 1st prize contained £25, the second prize contained £15, and the third prize contained £10.

03

The winners of the talent show were Samantha winning 1st prize for her empowering vocals, Shane, Jitson, Ben, Don, Ryan and Jopaul winning 2nd prize for their heartfelt and meaningful dance performance and Tyra winning 3rd prize for her uplifting and energetic singing skills.

04

Food and refreshments were sold, and ten raffle prizes were given out. The YCW Talent Show team were able to raise an outstanding amount of £921.60 from selling tickets, raffle, food and drinks and by putting up an amazing show! Here are a few comments from some of the people who attended the show:
“What a show!I don’t know what was more impressive - the amazing gifts and talents displayed – dance, verse, and song; the professionalism of the production and sound team; the warmth and composure from the front of house comparing duo; the welcome shown to all attendees; or indeed the love and support displayed by the young people to each and every person who performed and shared their gifts and talents - of all ages. And all that effort for the benefit of raising funds for others. The group are to be commended for all their hard work and for an outstanding show” – Clare (Guest Judge)
“I feel like our First ever YCW Talent Show was a huge success!! We managed to raise around £921, all thanks to our organisers and especially to our YCW Talent Show Leaders- Auntie Laurina and Jopaul. It was such an amazing event and I hope we have something like this again. It was a struggle at first but in the end the Talent Show really pulled together and it hold a special place in the YCW. Thanks again to Jopaul and Auntie Laurina for this amazing event!!!”
